Cower
in fear, Brutals, for the terror of Zardoz is upon you!
It is the year 2293, and the Earth is in the iron grasp of the Eternals,
an immoral (and free loving!) race of scientists living in their walled
city known as the Vortex. From here, they launch the terrifying Zardoz,
a giant floating stone head that spews guns from its mouth while instructing
the barbarian Brutals to go out and kill each other.
But one Brutal - Zed, hairier chested than most - rises above his primitve
origins to enter Zardoz, and ride it back to the Vortex. Will he
be destroyed by the Eternals, or will he plunder their women & wreck
their city?
This is the story of Zardoz,
John Boorman's 1973 classic starring Sean Connery - hailed by film critics,
heads of state, and really stoned people as possibly the greatest film
of all time... and this is what Camp Zardoz will bring to the playa
in 1999.
More head than you knew you wanted.
The distinguishing feature of Camp Zardoz will be (of course) a 25' tall
stone - or in this case, simulated stone - head, within which will be located
a swanky chill-out lounge, complete with plush furniture worthy of an Eternal.
Visitors, should they have thick enough chest hair to attempt it, will
enter through Zardoz's mouth, and take advantage of the deluxe environment
and soothing tunes. At night, this area will transform into a honest-to-goodness
club, the perfect place to see & be seen, or take in a live show.

(plush furniture not pictured)
(Note that the above rendering incorrectly depicts the Man standing
somewhere in the
middle of Black Rock City, rather than on the playa (in front of Zardoz),
as he should be...
that's what's known in The Business as "artistic license".)
